Biography

English peer. The only surviving son and heir of Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle, he died before his father at the age of 17; the Dukedom became extinct on his father's death, but was revived for Henry's brother-in-law: John Holles, Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Henry, Earl of Ogle, is remembered mainly for his short-lived marriage to Lady Elizabeth Percy, daughter of the last Earl of Northumberland and the greatest heiress of her time; she was only fourteen when they married and was widowed a year later when Henry died on 1 November 1680.
