Belgian Catholic priest, the parish priest of Charleroi, he was active in the Resistance against the German occupation. For example, he hid Jewish children and stole bags of food to feed them. He was also in contact with Communist resistance fighters. Along with eighteen other hostages, he was assassinated by order of Victor Matthys at dawn on 18 August 1944 in Courcelles, Belgium.
