German-Jewish opera singer (bass) and composer, taught by Charles W. Graeff and Engelbert Humperdinck, he was engaged at the Municipal Opera in Berlin from 1925. He also gave guest appearances in Zagreb, Belgrade and Hamburg. In addition, he worked from 1926 as a teacher at the Academy of Sacred Music in Berlin. After the rise of the Nazis in 1933 he was dismissed for racist reasons in 1934. He died on the Kulturbund stage during a recital, a few hours after being interrogated by the Gestapo, on 24 April 1941, aged 55.
