Charles Joseph Gravier


French zoologist known for his research of Anthozoa (class containing sea anemones and corals). The genera Gravieria, Gravierella and Gravieropsammia are named after him, as are numerous marine species.

In 1923 he was made a chevalier of the Légion d'honneur and commander on 6 August 1937. He died on 15 November 1937, aged 72, in Paris.
