Beeman, The South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, Vol. 19, No. 3 (July 1918), pp. 146-151: "Alexander Gillon was born in Rotterdam . . . on Sunday at one 1 o'clock at Noon ye 13th day of August 1741, with a Caul (or some curiosoty [sic]) down to his Eyes" (p. 146).
