Biography
American entrepreneur, he was the President of AT&T (American Telephone and Telegraph) from 1925 to 1948, overseeing its early growth years. On January 7, 1927, under his leadership, the first public transatlantic telephone call was made to London. He was the US Ambassador to Great Britain from 1950-1953. He died in May 1966 in New York, NY, age 81.
