Biography
Dutch politician of the Anti Revolutionary Party (ARP), the Prime Minister of the Dutch government in exile during World War II.
From 3 September 1940 until 24 June 1945 he was the Prime Minister of the Dutch government in exile during World War II. He followed up De Geer, whom he had accused of defeatism, as De Geer had advocated a peace settlement between the Netherlands and Nazi Germany in 1940. This was intolerable for Queen Wilhelmina, who appointed Gerbrandy.
Gerbrandy died on 7 September 1961 in The Hague.
