Biography
Italian physician, a clinical doctor whose scientific contributions are collected in more than 280 works covering all fields of internal medicine. His particular interest was digestive and liver disease. Through his research he was able to give an extraordinary boost to Gastroenterology, laying the foundations of what is still the most developed sector of Bolognese internal medicine. He was among the founders of the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE), of which he was the first president. He died in Bologna on 15 November 1963, aged 81.
