Biography
French historian and writer of historical accounts and historical fiction and a journalist. He is a graduate of the Sorbonne and was professor at the University of Nice from 1960-70 and for five years thereafter at the Institut d'Etude Politique, Paris. He has journalistic credentials as well, having been a reporter for L'Express from 1970-77 and a columnist beginning 1977.
Some of his better known histories are: Robespierre the Incorruptible and Spain Under Franco: A History. His historical fiction includes "The Night of Long Knives" and the three-volume "La Baie des Anges."
