Biography
Prince of Orange-Nassau, as the youngest son of Willem V, Prince of Orange and Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic and Princess Wilhelmina of Prussia, sister of King Friedrich Wilhelm II. Commonly called Fritz inside the family, he chose a military career with the Holy Roman Empire. He died of a fever while serving in Padua, Italy, on 6 January 1799, aged 24, unmarried and without issue.

Sy Scholfield quotes from "Prins Willem V van kind tot grootvader" by Abraham Jacobus Servaas Rooijen (Tengeler, 1886), p. 21: "Drie kinderen, twee zoons en eene dochter, kroonden den echt van Prins Willem V en zijne gemalin. De tweede zoon zag het levenslicht 15 Februari 1774. „'s Avonds omtrent elf uuren" was de Prinses „gelukkig en voorspoedig verlost van eenen Prins". (Three children, two sons and a daughter, crowned the real Prince Willem V and his consort. The second son was born 15 February 1774. "In the evening about eleven o'clock" the Princess was "happy and prosperous to deliver a Prince").
