French novelist. Leon Frapié's works, often moralistic, sometimes awkward, went unnoticed. But in 1904 his third novel La Maternelle won the Goncourt Prize. It is a moving picture of disillusioned manners of children in poor neighborhood schools. It was successfully adapted to film in 1933.

He died 29 September 1949, Paris.
