Infante of Spain (1712) Felipe

Biography

Spanish infante as the third child and third of four sons born to King Felipe V of Spain and his first queen consort, Maria Luisa of Savoy.

Infante Felipe Pedro Gabriel (Philip Peter Gabriel) was born at El Escorial in Madrid, the King's official residence, almost three years after the death of his elder brother and namesake, Infante Felipe Pedro, who had died aged sixteen days.

By Christmas Day 1719, Felipe was already very sick. His father arranged for his burial a few days before his death on 29 December 1719, aged 7. Felipe was buried in El Escorial complex.

Sy Scholfield forwarded news report from "Oprechte Haerlemsche courant," 23 June 1712, p. 1: "Een Courier, den 14 van Madrid gearriveert, heeft in 6 dagen tijts de tyding gebracht, dat de Coningin, Gemalin van Coning Philippus V. van Spange, 's nachts tuffchen den 6 en 7 ten 1 uuren geluckig van een Prins in 't Kraembed was bevallen."

(A Courier, arriving from Madrid on the 14th, has stated that 6 days ago, the Queen, consort of King Felipe V of Spain, on the night of the 6th-7th at 1 o'clock was happily delivered of a Prince).
