Biography

German sculptor, known as der Ältere (The Older), who created the Altar of the Frauenkirche in Dresden as well as the later-altered altar of the Resurrection Church in Plauen near Dresden.

Feige came to Dresden in around 1718 and worked in the sculptor's workshop near Balthasar Permoser for the decoration of the Dresden Zwinger. After his wedding in 1719 he worked as an independent sculptor in Dresden. On 30 October 1728, he was awarded the citizens' rights of the city. Around 1748, he became a court sculptor. Johann Joachim Kändler was one of his pupils.

He died on 11 February 1751 in Dresden.
