French actor, writer, humorist and head of his own production company for French cable television. He was director of French TV Canal Plus (2002-2003) after André Rousselet and Alain De Greef, and before Pierre Lescure.

His father, a catholic Maltese and jewish Blackfoot musician, moved from Algeria to France in 1962. With his girlfriend, he held a cabaret-restaurant in Paris. Farrugia was born out of wedlock but was legitimized by the Farrugia-Walmacq marriage on February 22, 1968. In his childhood, he played the piano, the flute, and the drum set. With Alain Chabat, he founded the comic troup "Les Nuls", including Bruno Carette and Chantal Lauby. Aged 27, he began to suffer from multiple sclerosis.

He married on January 22, 2005 and he and his wife Isabelle had a daughter in March 2008. On April 12, 2009 he was awarded the honor of Chevalier a Legion d'Honneur. He was converted to Judaism.
