Biography
Rock group composed of the following:
Faltskog, Agnetha: April 5, 1950, Jonkoping, Sweden (Bjorn's wife from 1971-79)
Ulvaeus, Bjorn: April 25, 1945, Gothenburg, Sweden
Andersson, Benny: Dec 16, 1946, Stockholm, Sweden
Lyngstad, Anni-Frid (Frida), (Benny's wife 1978-81): Nov 15, 1945, Ballangen, near Narvik, Norway.
The group disbanded in 1982 after having sold 350 million records worldwide. They are currently (2000) all living in Sweden. Frida has just returned there after almost a decade in Switzerland, following the death by illness of her third husband in Nov 1999.
In 1999 they are again in the news with the outstanding success of "Mamma Mia!" a stage production that has been a sellout in London since it opened in April 1999 and in New York on 10/18/2001. The show is a "feel-good" musical about a girl on the edge of marriage with 22 ABBA songs.

Source Notes
Arbitrary date given in order to collect the group members under one record. PT quotes "Contemporary Musicians" for founding year of 1972 in Stockholm but notes that Internet sites give 1968 as the year the group was established. According to the official ABBA website, the men actually met each other in 1966 and they met the women in 1968. The group did their first cabaret act in 1970 and recorded their first song in 1972. They named their group ABBA in 1974.
