Biography
Norwegian actor. As a child he was a trouble-maker and was sent to the Odenwaldschule in Germany. Back home again he quit his attempt at higher education and was off again, this time to South-America. He took part in whaling and lived for some time in Buenos Aires.
He ended up as an illegal immigrant in the US and had to recruit as a pilot in the Philippines, where he got into a conflict with a lieutenant and was sentenced to 10 years of hard labour. Because of connections in Norway, among them Prime Minister Johan Ludvig Mowinckel, Egede-Nissen was pardoned after 14 months. Back in Norway he went into acting.
He was the son of politicians Goggi and Adam Egede-Nissen. He had several brothers and sisters who were actors too.
Egede-Nissen died on 1 November 1976. He was 73.
