Lyric soprano from Guatemala, the first to achieve international fame. She made her debut in the United States as an opera singer in Chicago in 1927. She sang at the prestigious Metropolitan Opera in New York from 1928 to 1933. During her virtuoso career performed many operatic roles, including: Micaela, Carmen, Mimi, La Bohème, and Cio-Cio San, Madame Butterfly. Doninelli Aida also worked in some of the earliest musical films such as La Traviata playing an excellent role never before seen by any Latin American, or Tosca, full of drama.

She died in 1996.
