Outstanding Chilean hydraulic engineer. He was Civil Engineer in 1917 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile where he taught from 1919 to 1968. He also served as professor of Hydraulics of the University of Chile from 1931 to 1983. In 1945 he was invited by the government of Ecuador to study the irrigation in the provinces of Guayas and Manabi. In the same year he attended the congress of Engineering and Industry held in Rio de Janeiro where he was named vice president. In 1948 he was invited to the conferences on ads in the Bureau of Reclamation (USA). In 1950 he participated in the International Scientific Commission intended to recommend a solution to the dispute between Afghanistan and Iran, around the Helmand river. In 1962, he was appointed Chairman of the Latin American Regional Committee of Hydraulic, created this year under the initiative. He participated in numerous Congresses of Hydraulics, both South American and international.

He died in Santiago on 4 February 1988.
