German chemist who took up the positions of the head of the laboratory as well as deputy head of the German Research Center for Food Chemistry at the University of Munich, where he became a lecturer in 1936. In the following year, he joined the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, where he was promoted to a full professor and director of the Institute of Food Chemistry, which was also the municipal food inspectorate of the city of Frankfurt am Main.
He died on 1 July 1991 in Frankfurt am Main, aged 91.
