Biography
American firefighter, descended from a long line of firemen that included his grandfather and Uncle Billy. Jerry, as he was known, started a new assignment on 9/10/2001 with Ladder 3 out of Union Square in lower Manhattan. On the following day, when a terrorist-commanded airplane struck the World Trade Center, Jerry and 11 other men were among the first to arrive at the incredible scene. Mounting the stairs to evacuate people from the building, Jerry was on the 40th floor when the tower collapsed.
A sports fan, he played hockey at Don Bosco High School and spent his first working days as a bus driver. He was a member of the carpenter's union before he joined the Fire Station.
