Biography
Belgian businessman, the brother of Adolphe, Auguste, Célina, Édouard, Jules JJ, and Léopold Delhaize. Not participating in the companies set up by the other members of the family, he stayed in Ransart where he opened, in 1870, his first commercial establishment offering groceries, wines and liquors, and then set up various branches. Married like his brother Adolphe to one of the Stainier sisters, Mathilde (1847-1931), he had seven children, including Achille Delhaize. He died on 11 November 1897 in Ransart at age 64.
