Biography

English poet of 16th century, got 17th Earl of Oxford when his father died (1862).Favourit of Queen Elizabeth I,her entertainer.Admirer of Renaissance.Discovered as possible real author of the Shakespeare plays, dispute with the "stratfordians" about his role.De Vere could have written the plays in the background because of his high position but given them to Shakespeare without calling his name. Many hints in his life could be connected,if so,far more than Shakespeare's development. The Earl knew Italy and the scenery of the Royals, had a widely spread knowledge and cunning of different arts.He even knew a certain Burghley, Polonius in Hamlet. But there were also invisible cases like a duel ending with the death of his opponent. It was declared afterwards his rival wanted to make suicide. He was married twice. To his time he was well known as the best comedian writer, who also wrote sonnets (for Henry Wriothesley).

He died on 24 june 1604 in Borough of Hackney (London).
