Biography
Important historian and critic of Spanish art in the first half of the twentieth century, specializing in sculpture from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In the Second Republic, he was appointed Director General of Fine Arts: there had a decisive organizing activity of museums and art protective with his 'National Art Treasures Act' of 1933.
He died in Madrid on 10 February 1939.
