Louisa de Mornand

French stage and film actress, who was the model for Rachel in À la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time, previously also translated as Remembrance of Things Past), having been a friend of Marcel Proust.

Around 1903, Lousia had a relationship with Marshal of the Empire: Louis Joseph Suchet. Before that, around 1901, she had an affair with Bertrand de Fénelon, another friend of Proust. In 1907-1908 she had a liaison with Robert Gangnat, representative of the society of dramatic authors. It was at his house that Gaston Gallimard met Marcel Proust for the first time in August 1908.

She died on 14 December 1963 in Paris.
