Biography

French film director who began as a playwright. From 1908 to 1912, he shot over a hundred films for the company Pathé. In 1912, he founded his own production company, Les Films Valetta.

He was one of the first directors to sign his films, and in 1917 founded the Society of Film Authors.

He died on 24 November 1952, aged 83, in Paris.
