German nobleman, the third, but eldest surviving son of the Count Philip IV (1493-1574) and his first wife, Margaret of East Frisia (1500-1537). Daniel died on 7 June 1577. He was succeeded by his younger brother Henry IX, who died later that year, on 3 October.
Sy Scholfield quotes "between 4 and 5 o'clock in the morning" from "Grundlage der Waldeckischen Landes- und Regentengeschichte, Volume 2" by Johann Adolph Theodor Ludwig Varnhagen (Vandenhoeck u. Ruprecht, 1853), p. 58: "Daniel, geboren 1530 den 1. August, Morgens zwischen 4 und 5 Uhr."
