Biography
German metallurgist involved in the steel industry.
Daeves studied horticulture at the TH Aachen and in Breslau, where he was promoted in 1920. After a brief period of industrial activity, he became an appointee at the Verein Deutscher Eisenhüttenleute in Düsseldorf in 1921, where he developed the research concept of large-scale research on quality control and material development based on statistical methods and probability calculations.
In 1924 he became head of the research department of coal and iron research GmbH in Dortmund. After 1945, he worked as a technical scientist at Handelsblatt as an intermediary between technical and economic processes.
He died on 2 May 1963, aged 70.
