Grand Duke of Russia Cyril Vladimirovich

Biography

Russian royalty, a grandson of Czar Alexander II. His cousin, Czar Nicholas II, banished him from Russia for marrying his cousin, the recently divorced Princess Melita of Saxe Coburg Gotha, in Tegensee, Germany on 8 October 1905. The couple had three children together, two girls and a boy. After the deaths of Czar Nicholas II and most of the Romanov family, he assumed the leadership mantle of the family, declaring himself "Emperor and Autocrat of all the Russias", although he never actually ruled.

He died in Neuilly, France on 12 October 1938.
