Sy Scholfield cites his father's record quoted in "Ernst Curtius: Ein Lebensbild in Briefen" by Friedrich Curtius (Springer, 2013), p. 443: "7. Juli 1851. Mein theurer Prinz! Mit inniger Freude zeige ich Ihnen an, daß meine liebe Frau mir heute Mittag um ½1 Uhr einen gesunden Knaben geboren hat, dem es, wie seiner Mutter, Gott sei Dank! gut geht."
Abridged translation: '7 July 1851. My dear Prince! With deep joy I note that my dear wife has borne me at lunch today at ½1 o'clock [12:30pm] a healthy boy, who, like his mother, is all fine and well, thank God!'
