French filmmaker, writer, actor, poet and independent producer. He is the son of writer and historian René Courant. One of the most prolific filmmakers, he turned over 6,000 filmed portraits and a very significant number of other films (over 600) from the mid-1970s and has published several books on cinema. He invented, directed and produced the Cinématon, the longest movie in the world (it lasts 191 hours).
