Biography
Italian screenwriter and film director. After receiving a degree in architecture, Comencini started as a photographer, then film critic for the weekly "Tempo," 1939-1941. In 1946 he made his documentary film debut and in 1948, his first film production for TV. Comencini is the recipient of seven awards including the Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 1987 and the Grolia d'Oro Award in 1993.
