Italian mathematician and the author of many works on geometry, of which some fifty were collected in two volumes, published in Padua in 1937.

He taught at the Technical Institutes of Messina and Milan until 1906, afterwards appointed as a professor of projective geometry at the University of Genoa. In 1925 he was appointed to the newly formed mathematics section of the Faculty of Science at the University of Florence, where he worked with Giovanni Sansone for the organization of the Institute of Mathematics. Here he remained until his retirement in 1935. His students included Federigo Enriques and Guido Fubini.

He died in Rocca San Casciano on 14 September 1942.
