French navy officer and writer. Promoted to captain in July 1929 he was a supporter in the late 1930s of fascism and he distinguished himself for his collaborationist engagement during World War II. He was sentenced to death at the Liberation and was with Robert Brasillach, one of the few French intellectuals executed (on 9 January 1945) for collaboration with Nazi Germany.
