Biography
French politician who, until his appointment as Junior Minister for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by President François Hollande on 16 May 2012, was a member of the National Assembly of France where he represented the 5th constituency of Manche on behalf of the Socialist Party.
He has been the mayor of Cherbourg-Octeville since 2001.
On 19 March 2013, he became minister of budget after Jérôme Cahuzac had to step down due to a tax fraud scandal.
In 2014, he became minister of the interior and, on 6 December 2016, he was named Prime Minister by President Hollande.
