American actor and musician best known for his series-regular role playing Young Ned on the fantasy comedy-drama Pushing Daisies from 2007 to 2009. He is currently lead singer and guitarist of American rock trio Fencer. In May 2017, Fencer released their first EP, With; and in February 2019, they released a music video for their single "Junebug."

Field Cate is the great-grandnephew of famous silent film star Esther Ralston, who has a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is the great-grandson of Walt Disney's thirteenth employee, Marjorie Ralston, who was an inker and also the first female voice actor for Minnie Mouse, in the 1929 series Wild Waves.

Raised a vegetarian, Cate has spoken out on behalf of animal rights group PETA.
