American newsmaker considered to be the first baby boomer born in the United States. The daughter of a Navy machinist and his homemaker wife, her birth marked the beginning of a baby boom of live births, which surged from 222,721 in January 1946 to 233,453 that May, nine months after the end of World War II.

After working as a corporate trainer and public school teacher in New Jersey, she retired, aged 62, in 2008. She has married twice and has two daughters from her first marriage.
