Biography
American politician, sworn in as a Dem. member of the House of Representative in January 1999, taking the seat vacated by Joseph P. Kennedy II. He is a brash personality, at times rough around the edges, with the look of a big, friendly football player. As Mayor of Somerville, Massachusetts, he ran the city with an iron fist, a man who never pulls his punches but makes decisions and gets the job done.
He and his wife Barbara have two sons, Michael, 18, and Joey, 14. The family have been participants in his political career since he made his first bid for mayor in 1990, however they will remain in their Somerville home and Capuano will commute to Washington Tuesday to Friday.
