Biography
French mechanical engineer who started a hosiery machine construction company in 1853 and until 1893 embarked on research and lodged some fifty patents mainly intended to improve the hosiery trades. In particular, he dicovered how to adapt the Jacquard system used for weaving to the mesh.
He founded the French Hosiery School in Troyes in 1888. It operated until 1964 as a private school recognized by the State before becoming the BTS hosiery section of the technical high school in Troyes.
He died on 14 January 1904 at age 80 in Troyes.
