Nigel Bruce

Biography

British-American actor born of British parents visiting Mexico as tourists. He served in the British Army in WW I, where he was gravely wounded. Bruce moved onto the British stage, and had many productions in London and on Broadway before entering into British films. In 1934, he moved to Hollywood for a solid career as a supporting actor. Bruce is best remembered for his role as Dr. Watson in the "Sherlock Holmes" series. He also played the role of Dr. Watson for eight years on radio.

Bruce was married to actress Violet Campbell. he died of a heart attack on 8 October 1953 in Santa Monica, California.
