Biography
French woman, also known as Ivonna-Botto-Shirmammadova, living in Azerbaijan since 1947 who met French President François Hollande during his Caucasus visit in May 2014. In 2011, The European Azerbaijan Society helped her return to France for the first time in 64 years.
On 4 August 1945 in Passy she married Shammad Chmidov, a former Soviet soldier of Azerbaijani descent. She left France in 1947 to follow him, and settled with him in Imishli. He died in 1950, and she decided to remain for the sake of her son (born in 1949).
A film documentary and a biography of her life are in the works.
