Biography
Dutch journalist and writer.
He followed the Gymmnasium in Zwolle and studied French Letters in Lausanne and Paris. In 1889 he wrote artcles about the World Exposition for Utrechts Dagblad, Provinciale Zwolse, Handelsblad and Leeuwarder Courant.
on 1 January 1893 he became head editor of the Leeuwarder Courant.
In 1910 he became editor in chief of the Arnhemse Courant, in 1922 of the Nieuwe Courant in Den Haag. After his retiremnet, he kept on writing.
He was chairman of the Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde and became knigthed several times.
He died 6 February 1947 in Rotterdam.
Personal
In 1899 he married Catharina Bloembergen (1873 - 8 October 1954, Rotterdam). His son Henricus Antonie Jacob Bothenius Brouwer (1909 - 26 August 1961, Amsterdam) became a jurist and literary collector. On 15 July 1947 his son married the jurist Wouterina Joanna Van Geer and on 5 October 1953 they got a son Tjerk Sikko.
