Biography

French tennis player known as "The Bounding Basque." A popular figure, he was a Wimbledon singles winner in 1924 and 1926. Borotra was one of the "four Musketeers" of tennis who dominated the game in the inter-war years. With vitality and enthusiasm, exuberant and sympathetic, he was a charmer who often took on too much. At age 60, he was still dynamic and full of zest.
