Biography
Italian homicide, a member of a political group, Lotta Continua. Police Chief Calabresi had been shot to death on the morning of 5/17/1972, c. 9:15 AM when he left home, Rome by a young man in a Fiat with another person driving. In July 1988, Leonardo Marino, a member of the group, turned himself over to the police and declared that he was the driver of the car from which Ovidio Bompressi shot Calabresi on the orders of Sofri and Stefani, executives of the party.
In January 2000, the courts of Venice confirmed the guilt of Sofri, Bompressi and Pietro Stefani for his murder.
