Biography
German physicist and university lecturer who co-published with Clemens Schaefer the multi-volume work Werk Experimentalphysik (Experimental Physics), which has since been reworked several times but today remains a standard textbook for students of physics. He is also the co-author of the work, Werkes Grundaufgaben des physikalischen Praktikums which was published for the first time in 1942, and of the first monograph on ultrasound, which appeared in 1937 and the following year in translation in the USA and England. Ludwig Bergmann died on 16 September 1959 in Heidelberg, aged 61.
