Biography

Austrian film, stage and television actress, producer and author living in Germany. She received many award nominations for her acting in theatre, film and television; her awards include three Bambi Awards, two Romys, an Adolf Grimme Award, both a Deutscher and a Bayerischer Fernsehpreis, and a Goldene Kamera.

In the spring of 2006, Berger's autobiography was published in Germany, Ich habe ja gewußt, daß ich fliegen kann ("I Knew That I Could Fly"). Among her memories of Hollywood are a less-than-subtle attempt by Darryl Zanuck to get her on his casting couch, and of all the shallow people she met in Hollywood.

Berger married German film director Michael Verhoeven in 1966; their sons are actor-director Simon Verhoeven (born 1972) and actor Luca Verhoeven (born 1979).

In her autobiography "Ich habe ja gewusst, dass ich fliegen kann: Erinnerungen" (2006) she writes "Morgens um sieben bin ich geboren, also etwa um sieben, wie meine Mutter sagt" (I was born at seven in the morning, about seven, as my mother says).

On 30 May 2021 the Austrian astrologer Sonja Klade wrote per email, that she saw an interview with Senta Berger on TV, where Berger stated a birth time of 1:40 am. The date of the broadcast and the TV station could not be established, and according to Klade the information was deleted afterwards from the TV interview. (1:40 AM would give Ascendant 7° Aquarius).
