Biography
German geophysicist, meteorologist and head of the Institute of Meteorology of the University of Cologne.
After studying astronomy, geophysics, meteorology and physics, Hellmut Berg habilitated in Heidelberg in 1937. Subsequently, he was head of the Meteorological Weather Service of Cologne and from 1938 a lecturer in Meteorology. In 1945, he was appointed as professor of meteorology. From 1947 he was head of the institute. He died in Cologne on 2 March 1960, aged 51.
