German paleontologist who mainly dealt with the White Jurassic of Baden-Wurttemberg, its stratigraphy and its ammonites, and continued the work of Eberhard Fraas as main conservator, while also taking care of the re-editions of his museum guide. He also studied the Böttinger marble and its fossils.

He died in Stuttgart on 2 September 1954, aged 64.
