Sy Scholfield cites birth certificate quoted in "Erich Benjamin (1880-1943): Leben und Werk eines jüdischen Wissenschaftlers und Kinderarztes" by Susanne Oechsle (Lit, 2006), p. 9: "zu Berlin in seiner Wohnung am dreiundzwanzigsten März des Jahres tausend acht hundert und achtzig, vormittags um zwölfeinhalb Uhr ein Kind männlichen Geschlechts geboren worden sei, welches einen Vornamen .noch nicht' erhalten."
