Biography
American pro baseball pitcher who has played for three teams in his professional career. After attending the local college in Evansville, Benes was selected by the San Diego Padres in the first round pick as a free-agent 6/01/1988, playing until suspended from play, 9/23/1993, for the remainder of the season. Traded by the Padres, 9/16/1995, he was acquired by the Seattle Mariners; granted free agency 10/31/1995 and signed with the St. Louis Cardinals 12/23/1995. Banks was placed on the disabled list 3/23 thru 4/28/1997 and released as a free agent 10/29/1997. At 6' 6", 245, he throws right and bats right. His brothers, Alan and Adam are also professional pitchers.
