Pedro Beltran Espantoso

Biography

Prominent Peruvian journalist, economist and politician. He was Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Trade (1959-1961), and from that office to his country oriented economy to a liberal type. In addition, he was Ambassador of Peru in Washington in 1944, President of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, Chairman of the defunct National Agrarian Society and president of the Inter American Press Association (1964). As journalist was editor of the newspaper La Prensa, where fundamental reforms that modernized the Peruvian journalism, both the content and the formal aspect made.

He died on 16 February 1979.
